Bryan Branz founded Key Witness Security LLC in September 2013 to bring awareness to the local San Antonio and surrounding community regarding False Alarms and to provide a practical solution to this ongoing problem.

After spending 12 years in the Detention Industry, helping to keep our nation’s prisons secured, Bryan Branz learned one important fact working on Alarm Systems: False Alarms are dangerous!  When false alarms become the norm in an Alarm System, they start to get ignored and it becomes the classic ‘Boy that Cried Wolf’ scenario.  He discovered a shocking statistic— according to the City of San Antonio’s Alarm Permits web page, over 90% of ALL burglary alarm calls in San Antonio are false.  With statistics like this, he knew that something had to be done.

He noticed the problem with traditional burglar alarm systems is that they are “blind” in that they cannot see if there is an actual crime in progress when an alarm goes off.  Monitoring companies have no choice but to contact the police and send them to the premises where the alarm occurred.  Many times these alarms are False Alarms; whether caused by improper use of the system or a non-threatening alarm (e.g., a helium-filled balloon from a party drifted in front of a motion detector and caused a motion-triggered alarm event).

So in searching to find a better way, Bryan discovered the latest technology in “video verification”, which is a way to visually confirm that a legitimate alarm has actually occurred.  So when a break-in occurs, the system he chose to implement sends a 7-second video clip to a monitoring center here in San Antonio to visually confirm that there is an actual alarm event.

Problem solved!  When the Police are dispatched for an alarm, it is for real.  Bryan could move forward with this company with a clear conscience knowing that these verified alarms (i.e. crimes in progress) get priority response from law enforcement which means that they go straight to the top of the queue.
